QUALIFICATIONS:

Bachelors degree in music/music education (minimum)
- Current teaching license with instrumental music endorsement from the MS Department of Education
- Percussion emphasis preferred
- Experience in mainstage and sound design technology
TERM OF EMPLOYMENT: Salary and work year to be established by the Board
REPORTS TO: Director of Bands and School Principal
JOB GOALS: To assist in administering the instrumental music program for Brookhaven Public Schools. To provide guidance and encouragement to students that participate in the instrumental music program. To promote close working relationships with parents and other staff. To keep the Director of Bands informed of emerging issues
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES: Such duties as may be assigned, including but not limited to, the following:
- Meets all professional conduct standards as set by MS Educator Code of Ethics Standards of Conduct
- Works with the Director of Bands to organize and carry out a rehearsal and performance schedule
- Coordinates assigned activities with the school/district calendar
- Supervises all assigned activities and performances
- Assists the Director of Bands in establishing performance and rehearsal requirements, enforcing academic requirements, and eligibility requirements
- Assists the Director of Bands in maintaining inventory
- Conducts rehearsals and performances as directed by the Director of Bands
- Assists with summer band rehearsals
- Assists with all rehearsals outside of the regular school day
- Assists the Director of Bands with assigned paperwork
- Establish and maintain open communication with students, parents, faculty and staff
- Prepare lessons that reflect accommodations for individual student needs
- Create an environment conductive to teaching and learning
- Follow all board policies and procedures
- Maintain regular attendance and is punctual
- Promote the district’s vision, mission, and goals
- Other duties as assigned by the Principal or Director of Bands
