QUALIFICATIONS:
- Valid Mississippi teaching certificate with endorsement in administration or supervision
- A minimum of five years prior job experience in teaching, counseling and/or administration
- Prior job experience in coaching preferred
- Such alternative to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable

REPORTS TO: Superintendent
JOB GOALS: To provide each enrolled student of junior high or secondary school age an opportunity to participate in an extracurricular athletic activity that will foster physical skills of worth and competence, a knowledge and understanding of the pleasures of sport, and the principles of fair play.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES: Such duties as may be assigned, including but not limited to, the following:
- Meets all professional conduct standards as set by MS Educator Code of Ethics Standards of Conduct
- Organizes and administers the overall program of extracurricular athletics, both intramural and interscholastic, for the district.
- Provides leadership in the selection, assignment, and evaluation of athletic coaches and staff members.
- Fosters good school-community relations by keeping the community aware of and responsive to the athletic events.
- Assumes responsibility for the organization and schedule all interscholastic athletic events.
- Hires officials, team physicians, and policeman as required, and assumes general responsibility for the proper supervision of home games.
- Arranges transportation for athletic contest participants.
- Arranges provision for meals for athletes and coaches when opponent is 60 miles or more from a district boundary line.
- Develops and places into operation appropriate rules and regulations governing the conduct of athletic activities.
- Verifies each athlete’s eligibility according to established physical and academic requirements of eligibility for participation in each sport.
- Prepares and administers the athletic program budget.
- Requisitions program supplies and equipment.
- Supervises all ticket sales and fund-raising events of the athletic program, and assumes responsibility for proper handling of funds.
- Arranges all details of visiting teams’ needs, including, lodging, meals, towels, gymnasium services, and field assistance, as appropriate.
- Decides for school use of playing fields and facilities.
- Arranges field and gym practices schedules.
- Provides for the physical examination of all athletes prior to the beginning of each season.
- Administer the insurance program covering school athletes, and assumes responsibility for all processing of reports and claims.
- Keeps records of the results of all junior and senior high school athletic contests, and maintains a record file of all award winners, stating the date and type of award, including athletic scholarships.
- Directs an in-school, extracurricular program designed to foster support for athletic teams and school spirit among nonparticipants.
- Plans and supervises an annual recognition program for school athletes.
- Submits items for Board review and attends Board meetings when appropriate.
- Follows all board policies and procedures
- Maintains regular attendance and is punctual
- Promotes the district’s vision, mission, and goals
- Performs any other duties as outlined by the Superintendent
