QUALIFICATIONS:

1. Bachelors degree in music/music education (minimum)

2. Current teaching license with instrumental music endorsement from the MS Department of Education
3. Percussion emphasis preferred
4. Experience in mainstage and sound design technology

REPORTS TO: Director of Bands and School Principal

 

JOB GOALS: To assist in administering the instrumental music program for Brookhaven Public Schools. To provide guidance and encouragement to students that participate in the instrumental music program. To promote close working relationships with parents and other staff. To keep the Director of Bands informed of emerging issues

 

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES: Such duties as may be assigned, including but not limited to, the following:

1. Meets all professional conduct standards as set by MS Educator Code of Ethics Standards of Conduct
2. Works with the Director of Bands to organize and carry out a rehearsal and performance schedule
3. Coordinates assigned activities with the school/district calendar
4. Supervises all assigned activities and performances
5. Assists the Director of Bands in establishing performance and rehearsal requirements, enforcing academic requirements, and eligibility requirements
6. Assists the Director of Bands in maintaining inventory
7. Conducts rehearsals and performances as directed by the Director of Bands
8. Assists with summer band rehearsals
9. Assists with all rehearsals outside of the regular school day
10. Assists the Director of Bands with assigned paperwork
11. Establish and maintain open communication with students, parents, faculty and staff
12. Prepare lessons that reflect accommodations for individual student needs
13. Create an environment conductive to teaching and learning
14. Follow all board policies and procedures
15. Maintain regular attendance and is punctual
16. Promote the district’s vision, mission, and goals
17. Other duties as assigned by the Principal or Director of Bands
